WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF BILL # S1628B

This Bill gives the right to Court Officers to issue summonses for traffic, parking and other violations committed in and around court facilities anywhere in New York State.

This authority means that Court Officers do not need authority from any other department or agency to issue such summonses.

OCA will create the actual summonses and issue them to the various commands. Training for those Officers unfamiliar with the issuance of summonses will be provided.

We are pleased to announce today that Governor Pataki singed into law the "9-11 Worker Protection Task Force Act". This important piece of legislation provides disability benefits for persons who contract any disease resulting from their involvement with the 9-11-01 attacks. As a member of the Public Employees Conference (PEC) we have lobbied strongly for this legislation to be signed into law.

Workers have 2 years from today's date to register with their prospective retirement systems regarding their involvement with the 09-11-01 disaster. When the forms become available to this office we will forward them to the delegates to be handed out upon request.
